Thank to everyone sharing your experience in court today and your reactions. There has been a lot of frustrations and questions about the motions. Here is a thread to offer some context. 1/

OK, buckle in: 2/

First stated premise: the judicial system is broken.

Second premise: the remedies to fix the system are embedded in the broken judicial system structure and in the legislature. 3/

Multiple judges have agreed there are issues impacting #KeithDavisJr‘s ability to get a just trial. Issues that would change the judicial system nationwide. The judicial remedy is establishing case law through the appeals process, up to the Supreme Court. 4/
It is not the role of a circuit court judge to change the judicial process everywhere in the US. 5/

#KeithDavisJr
This means an innocent person must be found guilty, spend years in jail during appeals process. This is not a good solution. It is not an ok solution for #KeithDavisJr. 6/
However, the arguments to base an appeal must be made, and the judges must carefully word their logic behind denying the motion. This dance is all a part changing the system. 7/

#KeithDavisJr
The arguments laid down, the case law cited, the judge’s choice of case law cited to grant or deny motions - all this is used to lay foundation for the change. 8/
That is what happened today in court. The motions about ballistics evidence, dna evidence, protocols, certifications. All of that was laying groundwork. 9/

But here is the maddening part. This is not a trial of ideas and reform. This is a trial of a man. A husband, father, son, brother. There is a human being behind these lofty arguments. A family in pain, a man sitting in jail for 4 years. 10/

This was another day of justice denied for #KeithDavisJr 11/
And about that legislative solution? Change the laws about evidence, about standards of crime labs, about police behavior and accountability. 12/

#KeithDavisJr
Legislative solutions are in no way easy or quick. Just ask @jillpcarter. But it is vital to stop future Keiths from sitting in jail for a crime they didn’t commit. Please support judicial reform in your state legislatures. 13/
And keep fighting for justice and to #FreeKeithDavisJr 14/
