If you look at Butts tweet, take the time to check the responses. There is a sea of right wing trolls or bots that converge on his tweet.

I only counted two dissenters from right wing that could be considered legitimate accounts.

If you take a step back from the conversation and take an eagle eye view, you can see the politics of populism and the Finkelstein Method in play in this single tweet.

The amount of fake dissent is indicative of hired guns. But by whom is the question?

We know they support CPC. But who is paying for the proliferation of right wing propaganda to swarm every time a prominent progressive partisan politician makes a comment?

I’ve noticed similar trends with CPC partisan tweets from their leaders and pundits. But the difference is, accounts of real progressives are making the comments. I know, because I’m one of them & interact with a large majority of the ones who refute bogus CPC claims with facts.

So who is behind the effort to minimize the legitimacy of progressive pundits’ and leaders’ commentary? Is it Russia? China? US? Or is it domestic?

It’s definitely coordinated and obvious.

Be aware fellow progressives.

The aim of these bots and troll accounts is to plant seeds of doubt and create division to split the progressive vote.

I’ve found the best way to deal with them is to ignore them or block them.

Interacting with them is just amplifying their message in your own timeline.

Remember, the ONLY way CPC can win is to split the progressive vote in enough ridings to secure a CPC candidate gets the most votes.

It is their ONLY path to victory.

They have no more than 30% support overall in Canada. Though in some ridings they dominate.

In Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario, many choose not to vote because they are convinced it won’t make a difference.

That’s the other tactic of Cons. Apathy, demoralization. Not only do bots amplify lies, they attempt to convince progressives their leaders are corrupt.

Butts tweet is a prime example.

Butts refutes the original premise, clarifying progressives are NOT the ones making false accusations.

Immediately a swarm of bots converge to attack, refuting his assertion, but with no evidence to the contrary. Just accusations.

Then they smear him and allude to SNC scandal as if he’s immoral. That’s called a smear. Casting aspersions is effective if readers aren’t aware of all the facts.

Butts voluntarily left his position so Trudeau could not be accused of allegiance to a lifelong friend over an MP.

Most casual readers aren’t aware of the facts surrounding SNC. In fact, the absence of MSM investigating the main players in the scandal means very few are aware of the facts.

Coupled with the fact we learned yesterday: JWR needlessly allowed an innocent man’s conviction stand for 18 months while she was busy trying to prove the PM’s integrity was in question, seriously puts doubt in the veracity of her version of the scandal.

Guilt over past wrongs committed against the FN community, along with confusion regarding what feminists really want (i.e. it’s equal treatment), left many questioning the Liberals value system.

However, the few of us that are immersed in Canadian politics saw through the scam immediately. And since so few are well versed in indigenous issues and politics, the cons have an effective bludgeoning tool to use every time a Liberal partisan makes a comment.

This tool’s development was aided by the 2 other progressive parties that helped manufacture it to further their own leaders’/party’s aspirations. Because they didn’t get electoral reform.

What more evidence of political opportunism is required to condemn those leaders’ choice?

I imagine the ethical conundrum created by wittingly & willingly participating in a smear campaign because you can’t effectively sell your own party’s policies to secure the public’s vote to win elections is severe.

And these leaders proclaim moral sanctimony! That’s rich!

The Greens offered to take the two former Liberal MP’s into their party. Elizabeth May also floated the idea that JWR take over party leadership, with much negative feedback. Now the Greens are hiring a known CPC pundit (Warren Kinsella) to teach them how to play politics!?

If you haven’t learned politics by now Ms May, you aren’t going to learn enough in the next 3 months to provide any confidence in your ability as a leader.

Serious question though... is May still leader or has JWR unofficially assumed that role?

It was Lisa Kinsella walking her through difficult testimony at a Justice committee and comforting her after she defiantly told Canada she wanted to remain MOJAG & no laws were broken, but she felt pressured.

The Kinsellas have since taken it upon themselves to amplify JWR’s racism and misogyny assertions. No one paid them. They just felt so compelled to support a friend in need.

And take a look at the new Green Indigenous policies. They could have been written by JWR. Were they?

And now WK is taking up residence to reinterpret valid criticism as partisan caterwauling to distract from the unrealistic and fantasy position statements Greens are trying to pass off as policy.

Synchronicity aligned perfectly to create that coincidence. 🙄

I’m not one for conspiracy theories, but there’s a number of synchronicities converging on Green Party affiliations with JWR, JP, & WK that I’m tempted. JWR even attended May’s recent nuptials. The recent Tyee article describing JP as morally superior & unassailable? A bit much!

With someone as naive and politically unaware, but so full of political aspirations including power and recognition, would it really be a surprise that CPC take advantage of May to split the progressive vote?

Splitting the vote is their ONLY avenue to win the election.
