I've been away for the week and have been thinking. So often, on all sides, the argument is cast in terms of leave/remain. So... Leave won. Or, leave lies mean that leave didn't win. 1/5
There is a lot of talk about whether there is (still) a majority for Leave. It seems as though there may not be. But focusing on whether there is (still) a mandate for Leave, is, I think, not particularly useful. 2/5
The key question is whether there is a majority (or failing that, 'sufficient support', however defined) for a particular form of Leave. Brexit cannot be delivered in the abstract. From a wide range of options, one particular concrete Brexit has to be chosen. 3/5
There are a range of options; from an EEA type agreement with the EU, to something like the WA, to an FTA, to no deal. All are still on that table. Only one of them can be chosen. 4/5
80% of the people could be in favour of Brexit, but unless any concrete version of Brexit commands 'sufficient support', it is impossible to see how it can legitimately happen. 5/5
