The hard-working word "potentially" undermines every statement in this entire article, and constitutes a confession that no actual evidence tying Assange to Russia exists. Still gotta marvel at the sheer gall of whichever intelligence agency helped leak this info.
Reporting this completely unsubstantiated claim as fact is an admission that this is a blatant smear piece by @CNN. The fact that they claim to be in possession of mountains of surveillance footage yet have no evidence of this means it should be regarded as pure fabrication.
This is hilarious. The beginning of the article mentions "Russians and world-class hackers" in the same breath like they're the same thing. Not until paragraph FORTY-THREE do they bother mentioning that the hacker in question is German with no known connection to Russia at all.
Smear piece refers to Assange as a "hacker". This is the most brazen, fact-free hit piece that the MSM has published since the bogus Assange-Manafort report by the @guardian.
Article claims "RT even published articles detailing the new batches of emails before WikiLeaks officially released them", a baseless conspiracy theory arising from conflation of the WikiLeaks Twitter account and the WikiLeaks website, debunked in 2016:
rt.com/viral/362696-r…
Article confirms that the first time Assange's internet access was cut off was due to US intimidation. This was common sense at the time, but it's nice to have confirmation.
None of the "exclusive documents" CNN claims to have are included in this report, which, for an outlet with such an extensive record of lying about WikiLeaks as @CNN, is obviously unacceptable. But even CNN's claims about the documents say nothing other than "potentially".
