Alexander Fitzgerald killed Dr Jasjot Singhota on a zebra crossing. He didn't see her because he hadn't bothered to clear the frost off the windscreen of the car he was illegally driving while uninsured. 10 months in jail, and a driving ban of less than two years.
Sentencing still pending, but Malachi Wheatle has just been convicted for killing Kevin Chang. He hit him at 70mph in a 30 zone while on drugs. Convicted, that is, only of Careless Driving. Apparently it wasn't "far below" the expected standard", therefore not Dangerous Driving.
John Shackey and Jason Imi were killed, while walking, by a 17 year old who was over 50% over the driving limit for cannabis. The same driver had been arrested eight weeks before, when he was almost three times over the limit. Community service, 2 year ban

Pretty dramatic presentations at the Papadopoulos sentencing. The judge is on a recess of less than 15m to consider his sentence.
Papadopoulos’s lawyer Thomas Breen said a lot. Most notable maybe, he emphatically bellowed: “The President of the United States hindered this investigation more than George Papadopoulos ever did.”
The judge responded, I’m paraphrasing: Make any argument you want to make today, but I’m very focused on Mr. Papadopoulos.
