(sigh) I’m not happy about this but I can’t argue with the judge’s reasoning too much. #ShortAssPlans *should* have been specifically restricted within the #ACA itself, but…they weren’t. That happened via an Obama XO a few years later, which is how Trump was able to reverse it.
Then bigger problem is that they’re being expanded in an environment in which there’s no longer any financial penalty for enrolling in them vs an ACA compliant plan.

@paulkrugman @JoeBiden Something really important to keep in mind re. the #ACA2.0 / #M4All battle: The #ACA *itself* allows for individual states to go Single Payer if they want to, via the 1332 Waiver provision. Vermont and Colorado both attempted to do this. Both ended up failing...
@paulkrugman @JoeBiden ...but let's suppose both had been successful, and the other 48 states had followed suit. Now you'd have 50 states with Single Payer healthcare systems. Would that be considered "eliminating Obamacare"? Depends on your POV.

Ok, I’ve been stuck at the Apple store for four hours waiting for my iCloud update to complete, so I’ve had time to read over Biden’s healthcare proposal. Sure enough, it’s basically @ewarren’s #ACA2.0 plus a robust public option, which is just fine.
I still can’t fathom why @ewarren has shifted gears to jump completely into the BernieCare pool when she already gave a perfect response back in March. Still hoping she’ll shift back to that stance.
Biden, Warren and the @HouseDemocrats all base their #ACA2.0 proposal subsidy formula on the @urbaninstitute’s “Healthy America”. The House version sticks with Silver for the benchmark, Warren & Biden upgrade to Gold.

Today is the 9th anniversary of the passage of the #ACA.

Every day from the day I showed up in the Obama Administration I would read people’s emails and letters about how their lives had changed. 1/
I remember listening to a call center rep walking a woman in Virginia through how much insurance would cost her family.

She was 60, worked two jobs, & had 3 dependents. She was shocked when she heard she could afford insurance for the first time in her life. 2/
When the phone call was almost done she sheepishly asked if it was possible to get dental insurance. It was only a few more $ per month, but the woman didn’t have it. She bought it for her grown son only as a birthday present. 3/

Another difference #ACA makes!

2010-12: With my Cobra ending, in GA I stay covered via obscure HIPPA protections. My only choice: Celtic Insurance owned by Centene Corp. For my Humira drug, Celtic makes me pay tens thousands up front as pay first & manually snail mail claims 1/
To make matters worse, this insurance takes up to 9 months to reimburse me as I float tens of thousands dollars via savings or credit cards. Other times, insurance says submit my bills (as claims) from CVS Specialty Pharmacy instead, but then CVS hounds me for unpaid bills! 2/
While all this is happening, insurance has no transparency in their online portal or snail mail of the processing, status, or even the existence of my claims! I'm completely in the dark, I have to call & call & call this insurance's customer service representatives for info 3/

The #AffordableCareAct is the comprehensive health care reform law enacted in March 2010 (sometimes known as #ACA or #Obamacare). The #ACA is NOT insurance. It is a LAW that stipulates, in part, what insurance companies provide in their #healthcare plans.
