@maxwelltani Today there was an editorial meeting headed by Paul Maidment, editor in chief of G/O Media. According to a source, one of the company's sites is working on a story about management, triggering company reflection on how to report on itself.
@maxwelltani Original Gawker, of course, distinguished itself via brutal and searing reporting on its own managers and decisions and occasional dysfunction. They were very good reading.
@maxwelltani According to a source in the meeting today, Maidment proposed new policies for the handling of stories about the company, including the notion of external review prior to publication. Whatever that means.
@maxwelltani Editorial staffers reportedly voiced strong objections to any separate-track policy for handling stories about the company, with one noting that by Maidment's logic, the Washington Post wouldn't report on its owner, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
