Here's the president's quote just now on how he could win the war in Afghanistan by wiping out Afghanistan and killing 10 million people but does not want to do that. 
Trump added later, "We could do a number the likes of which they've never seen before, and win it very quickly. I don't want to do that, I don't want to do that. Because you're talking about millions of people, and I don't want to do that."
Trump said US troops in Afghanistan are acting like "policemen," "not soldiers." He said, "If we wanted to be soldiers, it would be over in 10 days...But I have not chosen that. Why would we kill millions of people? It wouldn't be fair. In terms of humanity, it wouldn't be fair."
Trump later boasted at length about how big a hole in the ground and how loud a noise his "Mother of All Bombs" made in Afghanistan in 2017, then claimed, "They were going to make many of them, and I said no. We don't have - I don't want to drop that. I don't want to do that."
