Every day when I drive home at night, I pass 4 or 5 cars on the highway with their headlights off -new enough to have automatic headlights.

What’s an automation technology that was supposed to make human lives better that you believe made people less attentive, safe, or secure?
(There are some security allegories here, which is why we’re going down this rabbit hole.)
Now, after considering how and why these everyday technologies (from car collision avoidance to automatic sinks to phone contact lists) cause people to make poor choices and pay less attention, translate that to every time you yell at a user who clicked on a phishing email.
Are we automating security in such a transparent, habit forming way that when it fails, we fail our users?
