Here's personal training story with Danny Green: DG called me at 12:30am
to meet him at UNC and train him. He had been cut by the Spurs 2 or 3 Times and I stopped the workout after 5 min. I told him, lets forget the combo dribbles and 1on 1 moves..cont'd
The Spurs have Manu, Tony & Tim Duncan whom they pay Millions of dollars to do that stuff. If u wanna make the squad, u must knockdown 60% (3 out of 5) jumpers when they kick it 2u. All we worked on was spot ups, pin downs and making 10 in a row without touching the rim. cont'd
The following year, he broke the NBA Finals record for 3pt FG made...Moral is, I didn't enhance his talent. (He was McDonald's, and UNC Star). I gave him insight to utilize his skill set. 90% of NBA players are "Role Players"...Perfect a skill b4 if u wanna make it and stick...
Seeing his success is heartwarming because he found his niche. There are players just as talented as Danny but too stubborn to sacrifice the WHOLE for a Part...Let that sink in....
