We need a transformation of our political and economic system to combat the climate crisis so those who have been and will be most impacted by climate change are centered in policies.

Waste is toxic. Landfills were responsible for 103 million metric tons of carbon equivalent emitted as of 2011 -- 18% of all methane emissions.
My bill will create a federal grant program to help local cities invest in zero waste initiatives. These funds can go toward recycling infrastructure, or toward the creation of partnerships with local businesses that work to reduce waste in their operations.
Together we will address the climate crisis and do it in a meaningful way that recognizes environmental justice intersects with racial, economic, and social justice.
