The statistics are horrifying. Our firearm homicide rate is 25x higher than other comparable countries. Our firearm suicide rate is nearly 10x higher. Women are 21x more likely to be shot to death—most killed by an intimate partner. 21 children and teenagers are shot every day.
It’s easy to despair when our government refuses to act. But we are not incapable of solving big problems. Over fifty years ago, we took big steps to make our cars safer and since then, we reduced per-mile driving deaths by almost 80% and prevented 3.5 million automobile deaths.

Sometimes, companies recognize that they have an obligation to the lives, health, and safety of their communities. In 2014, for example, CVS voluntarily stopped selling tobacco products. Cigarette sales went down, and more smokers tried to quit. That's progress.
Companies that sell guns have a responsibility to the safety of their communities. @Walmart is one of the largest gun retailers in the world. The weapons they sell are killing their own customers and employees. No profit is worth those lives. Do the right thing—stop selling guns.

Two weeks ago I warned about a coming economic downturn. Since then, we've already seen more signs that our economy is in precarious condition and that Trump's rhetoric and actions are pushing us closer to the brink.
We got more confirmation of my concern that middle class families are falling deep into debt trying to bridge the gap between rising household costs and stagnant incomes. wsj.com/articles/famil…

USA Today published an OpEd by Trump yesterday. WaPo fact checker says almost every sentence is a lie.

Here are the facts:
👉The Trump admin is arguing in court to end protections for Americans with pre existing conditions. If they win, millions will lose health insurance.

👉GOP supports privatizing Medicare and starving of funds over time. Trump’s corp tax cut includes provisions that deplete Medicare’s revenue system.
👉Dems propose expanding medicare benefits for Seniors. Some propose a Medicare-For-All plan for seniors and non seniors alike.

The GOP can’t run on their #GOPTaxScam because it’s wildly unpopular.

They can’t run on healthcare because their plans would steal healthcare from millions of Americans.

All they can do is lie.

The truth is, you can’t afford for the GOP to win.

I was Speaker when we passed the Affordable Care Act that has given millions of Americans newfound coverage and protected over 100 million people with pre-existing conditions. At the same time, I have watched as Republicans railed against it.
I watched as Republicans in Washington forced over 60 votes to repeal and/or undermine people's health care. Now, they want to run around the campaign trail and claim they're in favor of protections for Americans with pre-existing conditions? I don't think so.
Paul Ryan and Republicans didn't seem to care about the health care of young children or seniors and the skyrocketing cost of prescription drug prices. They VOTED to destroy pre-existing condition protections, slap those aged 50-64 with an Age Tax and increase the uninsured rate.
