I count 10 unique questions from @jaketapper tonight: 3 attack questions to Sanders, 1 attack on Sanders directed at someone else, 2 attack questions to Warren (1 of which was also an attack on Sanders), 2 attempts to get people to attack Warren or Sanders, & 2 others.
Tapper's question 1 was an attack question to Sanders: it propagated the incredibly misleading frame that Medicare For All will take people's insurance away and gave airtime to Delaney's absurd allegation that the policy will get Trump elected.
Tapper's question 2 was an attack question to Warren that doubled as an attack on Sanders: it glossed over the fact that people will pay less on net under Medicare For All and attempted to get a misleading soundbite of "Warren & Bernie want to raise middle class taxes."
Tapper's question 3 was an attempt to try to get Klobuchar - & subsequently other Democrats - to attack Warren for pointing out that those who won't support Medicare For All just aren't willing to fight for it. Or to at least make people think that true talking point was unfair.
It was during Tapper's question 3 that Bernie pointed out that Tapper was repeating a Republican talking point and Marianne Williamson noted that Tapper didn't even seem to know who Warren was talking about.
Tapper's question 4 was another ridiculous attack question to Bernie, this time suggesting that universal health care under Medicare For All is anti-union.
After his question 4, Tapper was relieved by @DanaBashCNN, who got in some anti-immigrant questions before @donlemon asked about guns and Tapper ultimately got the mic back.
Tapper's question 5 was an attack on Bernie directed at John Hickenlooper; rather than citing any evidence dealing with the question of electability, which tends to point strongly in Bernie's favor, Tapper asked Hickenlooper to explain why he thinks Bernie is too extreme to win.
Tapper's question 6 was an attempt to get Klobuchar to attack Bernie (who had just talked about tuition-free college and student debt cancellation) and perhaps Warren as well.
After Tapper's question 6, he gets another respite while @DanaBashCNN asks about the Green New Deal, Flint, & free college/debt and @donlemon asks about racism, reparations, taxes, & trade. Bash gets a few misleading digs of her own in on both Sanders & progressive policy.
Tapper returns with a direct attack to Sanders again in question 7, this time asking him how voters will ever be able to tell the difference between him and Donald Trump. 🙄
On questions 8 & 9, Tapper finally does something other than try to mislead people about Bernie or Warren, asking Tim Ryan & Pete Buttigieg some foreign policy questions instead.
Question 10, a direct attack question to Warren, was one of Tapper's most laughable: he says the policy of refusing to preemptively nuke someone will "tie [our] hands."
I want to emphasize that biased corporate commentary from ostensibly neutral news sources is not restricted to @jaketapper or @CNN. Tapper's performance tonight was just a useful illustration of what you'll often get more subtly from prominent people who pretend to be objective.
