I just had to google this myself to make sure it was real, but holy shit.

Andrew Yang’s position on the opioid epidemic is all sorts of fucked up. yang2020.com/policies/opioi…
“Doctors need to tell more patients that they’ll feel better on their own without having to take opiates.”
“create a centralized database of data”
jesus did Yang spend all his campaign money on mediocre bots
oh well never mind then, you got me
look, the centralized database of data was an immediate disqualification, there’s no point in arguing over the rest of the policy
also why doesn’t the list have bullet points

do you think Yang would let me edit this for him
this whole document is a fever dream
also we haven’t even discussed the part where we just lock people up for three days after an overdose and “convince” them to seek treatment
If you’re telling me that all of this is based on some policy research out of Sweden, then my next question is why neither you nor the candidate feel the need to reference that research.

It’s not the reader’s job to google where you got your ideas. That’s what citations are for.
But someone definitely link me to the Swedish research that says doctors should tell their patients they’ll feel better in their own without taking opiates.

I want to read that.
It’s actually better to just not have a policy page than to write one at 2 am after some ad hoc googling and two or more Red Bulls.
“you’re taking things out of context”

“if you’d like, I could tweet this entire page one bonkers sentence at a time”
It’s time to say goodnight to all the battles in my mentions.

Just remember, nobody ever got better because you told them to. You can never know another person’s pain. And any substance abuse policy that doesn’t acknowledge that is doomed from the start.
