The issue here is the definition of Revolution. Singapore had their own revolution as led by Lee Kuan Yew and it was greatly successful. It began with finding common grounds in a multi-ethnic republic. They didn’t wait for a miraculous homogeneity. They united their forces.
We must stretch ourselves a bit and dig deeper before aligning with the limitations most have set for themselves. Nigerians are not complex to read if we eliminate prejudices and unfounded rhetorics. We have lost trust in our leaders and the civil society...
...because they have mostly failed us (young and old). These generational failure was reinforced by the hunger for power with the misconception that leadership = Political Power + Heaps of stolen Money. Thus most of our activists are hybrid politicians/veiled aspirants.
Some even believe that when the term revolution is deployed we are talking about an utopian situation where the whole country rise at the same time to the cause. These are delusions and misconceptions. All it takes is a chosen few to lead the conversation.
This is a renaissance not a display of primitivity as induced by political largess to execute the agenda of some far worse tyrants in waiting. Those who will lead the cause need not be known. It is about the cause not individuals or celebrities. It is about the ideal.
Those thinking what they don’t endorse can’t fly are as ignorant as those who think abstaining from voting absolves them from the implication of the ascension of a tyrant, stampeded to power by political illiterates emoting based on inducements.
We often see what is in our heads in reality. I don’t see political parties, gender, tribe, religion, social status, colors, sexual preferences, marital status or class. I see human beings and folks I share citizens with regardless of their prejudices against my person.
There can be a million groups/agitation for all I care. In the end the entire drive will coalesce into a single common ground that works for all. This is what is important not the noise out there. It is a personal question. Are you in or out in the dialogue for a better Nigeria?
