I see many people on here are calling out Boris Johnson's "do or die" Brexit strategy as mad or stupid. Its not.
Its quite smart once you realise the real aim is not Brexit - its to win the next election.
Here's why...
Johnson was never really a hard Brexiter - what he wants 1st is to be PM. But Brexit is a disaster you say - he'll lose.
No the real plan is a trap for Labour - to force Labour (& some remain Tory MPs) into a situation where their only choice is to vote for Brexit or no deal.
The trap for Labour is to get them to "dip their hands in the blood" of Brexit or be responsible for no deal.
If Labour leave it to Johnson to determine the final date vote in October - Labour & remain will have lost.
Labour can only win this debate if it forces Johnson to either bring Brexit to Parliament early, or to ensure its not just no deal vs Johnson Brexit in October.
In October they'll be a vote. If Labour doesnt vote for brexit, then in the election Tories will present Labour as the party that bought no deal brexit - Labour will lose. On other hand if Labour vote Johnson Brexit Labour cant attack it & will lose half their vote to LibDems.
