I’m legitimately curious why anyone thinks Trump should give a national address. He’s not an aspirational speaker or even a nice person, and the only people who ever get reassurance from his speeches are white nationalists. At BEST other supporters just get fired up and angry.
Nobody has ever heard him and said “MAN I’m feeling really positive and happy and dedicated to making the world better.” So, just shutting up and not saying anymore racist shit for the rest of his life would probably be Trump’s best reaction to what’s happening, right?
I mean, obviously he won’t do that. Because he’s super racist and also hates being called a racist so he will definitely respond with some sort of angry racist nonsense.

This bullshit needs to stop. Me and @maggieNYT disagree on plenty of things. Vehemently, in some cases. But she is a great journalist who’s uncovered an awful lot of the shit you people go ham over. So don’t bring this garbage into my timeline
Me and Maggie disagreeing over things or busting each other’s balls over how we approach our job is not an excuse for people to say shitty things about her. Hopefully these conversations and fights will lead all journalists learning from each other & to be better at what we do.
And frankly there’s a lot of dudes - straight, white, well paid, dudes - who approach our work like @maggieNYT. And I don’t see y’all going for them as much. So. Check that shit.

why are journalists and other media types getting upset about somebody publishing publicly available campaign donation data - which quite frankly voters should be reading anyway so they’re better informed on who supports candidates?
This is literally the dumbest shit to get the vapors over if you’re a journalist. We literally use these records all the goddamn time to research, develop and write stories. And it’s public for a reason. A really really good one.
if politicians want to hand wring about their campaign donations being made more public than they already are, that’s their right. But just spitballing here, instead of nodding along sanctimoniously with them, a better use of your skills would be to write on why it scares them

I love this city. This ENTIRE city of El Paso Juarez. Part of it is personal: friends there have become family; strangers have taken me in on Christmas Eve there, and their families welcomed me as one of their own.
On a night I lost one of the kindest souls I’ve known to suicide, she opened her arms to me. Strangers gave me comfort and strength. For no other reason than because it was right.

Trump says they did well in the "midtown" election, then says, "and midterm."
Trump: "The candidates that I supported" had "tremendous success." He is pointing to the candidates he had rallies for. Left unsaid: the vulnerable House Republicans did not want him to have rallies for them.
