A lot of journalists I sort of look up to are tweeting on Kashmir without quite knowing anything about it, by their own admission.

So here's a thread of books/articles on the history of #Article370 and what it meant for Kashmir. Read, maybe?
This in-depth @epw_in piece on when and why #Article370 came into existence in #JammuAndKashmir

This book called 'Hindu Rulers, Muslim Subjects' by Mridu Rai which explains how religion and politics became so inextricably enmeshed in defining and expressing the protest of Kashmir’s Muslims against Hindu rule.

Of course, A.G. Noorani's book 'Article 370: A Constitutional History of Jammu and Kashmir' that documents the little-known constitutional history of the state.

The Country without a Post Office by Agha Shahid Ali. This one never gets old. Read if you haven't. It's haunting.

This is one of my favourite books that move beyond male voices and focuses, instead, on what the struggle means for the Valley’s women and children.

'Munnu: A Boy from Kashmir': A graphic memoir of a young Kashmiri boy growing up in the valley in the 1990s. Life goes on amid the daily traumas.

This book by Aijaz Ashraf Wani that shows how policies deployed to ‘create order in disorder’ functioned inversely and turned Kashmir into a volcano which erupted in 1989–90.
