For those interested, and especially for those waxing eloquent over freedom of worship on the Temple Mount, a comparison is in order. Let’s look at the Western Wall.

Yes – unless you are a Palestinian. Muslims from Turkey and Indonesia may enter the Plaza, subject to the customary security check. Palestinians are not – even if checked by security.

Yes. Palestinians may enter and traverse the Western Wall Plaza if they get “A Pedestrian Permit".

Are Palestinians granted “Pedestrian Permits”?

Yes, in small numbers, mostly the elderly or infirm from Silwan allowed to enter the Temple Mount through the Mughrabi Gate. Virtually all other Palestinians are turned back at the entrance, & are not entitled to permits.

Is this a security matter?

No. No amount of security checks or vetting suffice in allowing a Palestinian to traverse the Western Wall Plaza.
