If you feel like lesbian gender-criticals only share the most extreme examples of toxic transgender people, it’s because THOSE are the people that most enjoy hanging out in our community.

If your contact with trans “lesbians” is only via your Facebook feed, you don’t know shit.

A lot of the men in our midst aren’t there because they have a progressive ideology. They’re there because they DON’T. They’re extremely sexist in their view of women. We have goddamn TRUMP VOTERS elbowing into the leadership of our community.

No other group in our community has this level of sexual entitlement toward women. It wouldn’t be TOLERATED WITHIN any other group. The places and groups that were at the core of our support systems have been flooded in rape culture, and no one fucking cares.

Women are literally being shamed for their trauma when they try to explain why sharing vulnerable spaces with male-bodied people is harmful. A male sued a WOMEN’S RAPE CRISIS CENTER for being refused a position as a VICTIM GROUP COUNSELOR, and our community sided with HIM.

I can write the above Tweet knowing that the only thing that will officially outrage my community is the use of the word “him.”

The women, the RAPE VICTIMS SEEKING HELP, are the ones in the scenario who are supposed be doing the caretaking of the man rather than receive help.

How does that not clue you into how the population dynamics of transgender people have changed?? They come to our spaces, but they don’t share our values. A lot of these guys ACTIVELY OPPOSED GAY MARRIAGE prior to transitioning. Many of them still do.

WE ARE SURROUNDED BY “LESBIAN” MRAs.

No. Listen.

I MEAN SOME OF THEM LITERALLY ADVOCATE FOR HOW MUCH EASIER LIFE IS FOR THEM “AS A WOMAN” THAN IT WAS AS A MAN WHICH PROVES WOMEN, NOT MEN, ARE THE OPPRESSIVE CLASS. THESE ARE THE PEOPLE DEMANDING WE CALL THEM “SISTERS.”

Being sexist or misogynistic doesn’t disqualify you from being held up as a GODDAMN COMMUNITY ROLE MODEL.

Being shitty with consent doesn’t disqualify you.

Being a sex offender doesn’t.

Being a murderer doesn’t.

Our community. WE are being supposedly represented by them.

Women. Are. Fodder. in this situation. NO DISCUSSION of the impact to biological women is tolerated. No risk to us is unjustified. No sacrifice is too big for US to make. Straight women giving away lesbian spaces. Gay men giving away lesbian spaces. We are losing autonomy.

We’re being demoted from self-determining groups & individuals to extras on a movie set. The only “concession” given to us is that we don’t HAVE to fuck trans people, & how goddamn generous is it for them to acknowledge that rape is against the law.

DOES THAT SOUND LIKE WOMEN?

Dear world,

We aren’t all equally impacted by transgender-related policy change. If you work in a bookstore instead of a bar, then the restroom thing is less likely to damage your life. If you don’t have to strip-search “female” PRISON INMATES, you aren’t going to take that hit.

But someone else is. Other women ARE. Just because you’re not scared, they aren’t allowed to be. You are dictating the boundaries of other women, despite how very reasonable it is for those women to feel exposed or cautious in these situations.

If you routinely share your social spaces with men, you’re not being impacted the way lesbians are.

FACT: We are not obligated to adjust our boundaries to match YOUR COMFORT LEVELS, and we’re not required to relinquish women’s spaces just because YOU don’t value them.

A whole group can’t be forced to surrender their human rights just because some members of the group choose not to exercise them.
