Really don’t understand why @JBennet tolerates the opinion columns to be used for this sort of dangerous false equivalency and epic pettiness. Hire Karpf. He’s a better writer and thinker.
Stop complaining about overly PC campuses and take some more rhetoric and history classes.
With great power comes petty mediocrity
Despite it being a holiday weekend you’d think the opinion section would have dedicated the needed time, editing, and ego management to keep Stephens from embarrassing the paper on a highly watched and sensitive subject. 🤷🏻‍♀️
And...why was this cleared to art the piece?
Imagine you had the power and reach of a NYT column. And surveying the 2019 political landscape you then decided the person to go after for neo-nazi rhetoric was a GWU prof who made a funny about you.

I agree lists CAN be used for good. But you should be able to block yourself from a list and/or block all subscribers. Because they are used for the worst forms of abuse far too often.
If you’re not a victim of this kid of list count yourself lucky.

Should staff train, yes. Should high schoolers on up be told basic protocol, maybe. But drilling little kids is just obscene. If your district is doing this instead of throwing its muscle at gun control, get them to reprioritize.

I've observed some movements taking off on Twitter. Some for #MedEd, raising awareness, knowledge sharing, inspiration and sharing failings, wounds & triumphs. Generally they support creative expression in 280 characters. Awesome! 2/
As these movements gain momentum, more people want to join in b/c #belonging. I'm seeing a disturbing trend of sharing experiences of patients/clients to promote how deep & human they are. Some are purely intended, some not. 3/
