Parliament was elected by the people. MPs are never in contravention of the people's will because it was the people's will that put them there in the first place.
Sometimes we decide MPs aren't doing a good job, or we change our minds. This is why we have elections where we can change our votes and put in place new MPs. This way, Parliament stays aligned with the people's will.
What absolutely must never happen is for the government to assume that it can overrule Parliament and take on its own authority - that is a violation of democracy and the rule of law
