What those of us closely following the Brexit process have observed - there is no serious UK renegotiation plan - is now confirmed by @pmdfoster.

This would mean - to be blunt - Johnson lied in his statement to the country yesterday.
@pmdfoster Another big Brexit story - related - on the work of experts on the Ireland border issue. No straightforward solutions exist particularly on SPS short of alignment in backstop type solutions
@pmdfoster And yet another way in which the Government's Brexit plans are not working - the early election. We are left with a view of a Downing Street operation that thinks it is different from the last, but is simply making the same mistakes more quickly

@pmdfoster This might be the biggest blow of them all to the Government. The modernising project is declared gone (along with a seat in London we presume), buried by Brexit, by as far as one can tell a popular MP.
@pmdfoster And if you're not reeling from all of that, according to a report out tomorrow no-deal "is a way of rendering a complex problem infinitely more so" - that @anandMenon1 had been unusually quiet for a while... theguardian.com/commentisfree/…
@pmdfoster @anandMenon1 So on Wednesday the Commons will vote, quite clearly, for or against a no-deal Brexit. Those voting with the Government will be supporting a no-deal Brexit, as that is the reality of their actions.

We long suspected such a vote will be close.
@pmdfoster @anandMenon1 If true on Purdah, this would sit alongside the decision to prorogue as a constitutional outrage from this Government. These rules are designed to ensure the incumbent does not gain an unfair advantage through control of Government machinery. They are strictly enforced.
@pmdfoster @anandMenon1 Just one more on negotiations - the biggest change of the last few years in such talks is the difficulty of keeping anything secret. Too many stakeholders. News comes out, quick or slow. If UK-EU talks were serious, we'd know by now. In fact we hear the opposite from both sides.
@pmdfoster @anandMenon1 This is a very good point on no-deal and purdah if there was to be an election
@pmdfoster @anandMenon1 But when is "the end"? Because I don't think this stops after Brexit, as each day goes by positions are becoming more entrenched, pro or anti close ties to the EU.
@pmdfoster @anandMenon1 No-deal revisited. Fighting an election with such stories, plus those already known about such as the future of the car industry, a risk hard to quantify. dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7…
@pmdfoster @anandMenon1 The longer (and correct) version of my usual one tweet - European Council in October won't negotiate Brexit
