More than 400 parents were deported without their kids last year. Many parents opted not to be reunited w/ their kids in the hopes they could successfully pursue asylum on their own. Some kids were reunited w/ their families back home.
But the @ACLU argued less than two dozen parents had "bona fide" asylum claims and were denied that right under the so-called "zero tolerance" immigration policy last year. Here's coverage from the court hearing this summer: courthousenews.com/feds-deny-brea…
