Banning political ads on Twitter does little other than slightly increase the already awful incentive structure for gaining enormous attention organically.
This is the only sensible part of the decision — getting rid of a small problem so Twitter execs can focus on a bigger problem. But... what's the quick and simple test to distinguish political from nonpolitical advertising?

Facebook has long had trouble with this. Try running an ad for an article related to a political subject and they'll consider a political ad. Such as this one, ironically: thenewatlantis.com/publications/g…

Mark Forkner is described as a "Boeing pilot working on the 737 Max" and "the chief technical pilot for the plane." Those are ambiguous descriptions. What exactly was his relationship to both Boeing and the Max project?
Here are clearer descriptions: "Mark Forkner, the Max’s chief technical pilot"; "As the chief technical pilot he was the primary liaison with the FAA on training and worked on the pilot’s manual." irishtimes.com/business/manuf…

Gilmore Girls is a depiction of people unaware of living in purgatory. No one changes or develops. Any given story fits as well in season 1 as 7 or 500. The Luke/Chris/Logan/Jess reshufflings are an eternal return, with cozy sweaters and robotic patter out to the horizon.

The only Gilmore Girls character who has accepted the impossibility of redemption and chosen to live heroically with the knowledge of despair is Kirk.

1/5 Last week, I taught about Anquetil-Duperron, William Jones, the discovery of #language similarity and the beginnings of IE Studies. Disciplines such as #Iranian Studies or #Indology, as we know them today, would not have been possible without those efforts and contributions.

I saw this leader of the free world interact with a small image board set off in the bowls of the internet. A refugee center for those who still clung to the ideals of unlimited free thought and speech. I still remember jumping on the bed the night of, "What a beautiful map."

#Today's story to #EndFamilySeparation Four months ago, Dad and 4-month-old entered at the Texas/Mexico border and requested #asylum. Dad and child were immediately separated and the baby put in ORR custody. #FamiliesBelongTogether
Dad was detained in a #Texas detention center where @RAICESTEXAS consulted. Dad accepted a deportation to be quickly reunited w/ his infant child. However, the Dad was deported & NOT his child. The now 8-month-old baby has been in ORR custody for 4 months. #EndFamilySeparation
The Mom and Dad now have once weekly Skype calls with their 8-month-old baby. That's right, folks. They Skype with an infant. #EndFamilySeparation #FamiliesBelongTogether

Get a portfolio said the writing panel/advice/speaker in what is the latest throwaway simple advice that instantly builds a career…. So, let’s talk about them.
1/24
1)Portfolios are NOT magic. Simply having one doesn't get you a job. Tey are a tool to be used in chasing work and an increasing number of employers ask for them. Having one can be very useful, but just putting some bits of writing in the same place does not = instant career.
2) People tend to read your email first, then your c.v. and then portfolio. Mess up stages 1, or 2 and 3 may well not matter. Always rework your email, c.v. and portfolio for EVERY application. Focus on what matches that job/company.
