Were Biden to emerge victorious in the primary, he’d be up against a president who—more than any other in recent memory—has put his bigoted beliefs into policy. Would he just say, “We know who Trump is” all campaign long, without engaging on the specifics of Trump’s horrors?
Biden’s obtuse advice to the first female nominee stands out, as well. Clinton debate Trump mere days after the Access Hollywood tape emerged. He really wanted her to ignore that and talk about her policies? For someone who loves touching women, Biden sure can be out of touch.
After these Trump years, we need a wartime president—at least in terms of identity. We need someone who understands it, through and through, every nuance. Of the top-tier Democratic candidates, Biden seems easily the least prepared to engage Trump on those fronts. How can he win?
I’m going to stop this thread before I get hypertension. Every day, I wake up genuinely wanting Biden to be a better candidate. I feel consistently let down. I do hope that it changes. We need good candidates to push each other to be better, not bad ones dragging the others down.
