Folks asked about my favorite band mentioned on the podcast.

Remember when Rock & Roll was witty, risky & about something? That’s these guys: The Kominas. They are pretty punk & have their axes out equally for islamists & anti-Muslim bigots. Check out “Shariah Law in the U-S-A!”
They do a great “Choli Ke Peeche” cover for Bollywood fans. “Suicide Bomb the Gap” is solid. The video for the vaguely Caribbean tinged “See Something, Say Something” is a send up of the paranoia-inducing US terrorism awareness campaign & good too & their song for Ashura is punk.
We need art that struggles w/ the issues of our times, and these guys have been playing with fire. I find them off-color, outrageous, courageous & thought-provoking.

They may not be your cup of chai, but few other than Oleg Cricket are getting through the noise like they do now.
