“Labour should follow the Lib Dems in campaigning not for a people’s vote, but instead for revocation of the Article 50 notice
It is a message which, in its urgency & decisiveness, more than matches that of Johnson. He will say that he will get it done” blogs.lse.ac.uk/brexit/2019/09…
“The opposition can say that, within days, Brexit will be over.

Revoke has grassroots appeal. Over six million people signed the revoke petition. Polls suggest that over 50% of the people now support remain.”
A Remain campaign on a PV that says “We might or might not remain but you will have a choice. If we get the legislation for a PV through then we should know within a year. But if you vote leave there will still be years of uncertainty”.
I agree with this LSE blog.

That is NOT a vote winner for an exhausted, exasperated, bored or frightened citizens.

As it is attacked and unpicked it sounds muddled and indecisive. It does not sound like leadership.

More followership.
It certainly does not match Johnson’s “We’ll Get it done” message.

Whereas
“We’ll make it stop” does. In spades. And outdoes it.

Especially if accompanied by an upbeat vital message of what the LD’s can get done because it is free to get on with the good things in life.
There is the other not so little thing about timing and ethics.

Those who say that PV is somehow more ethical should remember there is nothing ethical at all to have a referendum in the same broken electoral environment that infested the 2016 referendum with cheating & lying.
So when you espouse a PV you’d better add the time for a raft of legislation to implement ALL the long outstanding electoral commission legislation absolutely essential if it is to have the powers to intervene more effectively.

Plus the funding & time to recruit & train staff
All this quite probably in a hung Parliament with the same bad actors obstructing it.

OR join in with the cheerful LDs with a positive future.

Revoke legislation that is just 1 page long, not the book necessary for a referendum.

“We can get it done on steroids, Mr Johnson”
