Ahead of #ClimateStrike Sept 20, the youth coalition has released their demands. #StrikeWithUs because the future generation deserves a better, safer, and more just future.
#ClimateStrike is on Friday. We're dedicating each day of the work-week to spotlight our 5 demands.

MONDAY: Respect of indigenous land & sovereignty, to honor the treaties protecting indigenous lands, waters, sovereignty, while recognizing the Rights of Nature into law.
TUESDAY: We stand as a coalition for the protection of biodiverse ecosystems & the restoration of damaged biomes.

WEDNESDAY: As a coalition, we strike for food justice & to build sustainable food systems.

"Food sovereignty and small farms and small food producers also take care of the Earth and the environment. We steward the land in a way that is regenerative."

People are deliberately starting fires in the #AmazonRainforest to illegally deforest indigenous land for cattle ranching

.@BetoORourke: this is not what the "latest science demands" and a 2050 net-zero emissions goal is not in line with the #GreenNewDeal.
Leading UN scientists say we need to reduce emissions globally 40-60% by 2030 in order to avoid the worst impacts of climate change & get to net-zero emissions globally by 2050.

To achieve that, the US must do much more, much faster.

3/ Early in March, we visited Agoura Hills, CA where I met Marsha Maus. Marsha’s home was completely destroyed by the Woolsey Fire, which was made worse by climate change.

More Flores settlement news: Flores counsel asked a judge Friday to order the govt to release migrant children detained at the for-profit Homestead facility in FL within 14 days of placement. 2020 Dem candidates visited Homestead this week. Motion: bit.ly/2Ylce9h
“At Homestead, children are housed in prison-like conditions & unnecessarily incarcerated for up to several months w/o being determined to be flight risks" or dangerous, the motion said, adding that release is being delayed until kids are deported, sent to a sponsor or turn 18.
The population at Homestead has grown from 423 children in April 2018 to 3,728 children in May 2019. The avg stay is 67 days, motion says, well over what is defined in the Flores settlement, which governs treatment of detained migrant youth.

On climate change, there is no more ambiguity. It is not a future abstraction. It is happening now. We have entered the time of real consequences.

It is no longer possible to ignore climate change.

This will provoke responses. From the left, from the center, and from the right.
There are multiple possible responses to the climate apocalypse already in progress.

The ECOSOCIALIST response,
the ECOMODERNIST response,
and the ECOFASCIST response.

These do NOT map 1:1 with the traditional political spectrum.
