Being a Congressmember is a pretty relentless gig. Each week brings hearings, briefings, meetings, interviews, community events, votes, debates, and travel. It brings opportunities to stand up for families. And these days, it brings quite a bit of Trump shenanigans as well. (2/9)

I do take time to be mom to my kids. But that's a pretty relentless gig too. Each week brings 6 loads of laundry, emptying backpacks, and the inevitable argument about teeth brushing. (3/9)

I love my work in Congress, and I love my three kids. But sometimes it feels like too much. Heck, sometimes it *is* too much.

I spent a lot of time under waves, rather than on top. And I "drank" some ocean water, which made me double down on fighting pollution.

But mostly I didn't have time to think about Congress or my kids. The waves kept coming. And I kept falling off, sometimes less than gracefully. (8/9)

Today is #CaliforniaSurfingDay. Surfing is our official state sport.
