Today we’re celebrating the induction of Hedy Lamarr into the Florida Inventors Hall of Fame! We’re delighted to see more recognition of Lamarr’s technical achievements, and thrilled to have supported her induction.

Lamarr patented this Secret Communication System in 1942 with collaborator George Anthiel. The frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology would eventually become the basis for Bluetooth, GPS, and modern cellular networks. 
Lamarr is most well-known for her acting career, but she was more proud of her technological work than her films. Sadly, she only began to receive acknowledgments of this work late in life, but continued awards and efforts broaden awareness of her outstanding technical legacy.
One such effort to acknowledge her work is the documentary Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story. It was released in 2017, and does justice to her legacy by presenting a more complete picture of her life, including her technical work.
