I get trolled by the Bernie Left a fair amount.

It always follows the same narrative arc.

Them: You’re against progressive stuff!

1/
Me: Is that so? Prove it. I’ll wait.

2/
Them: You don’t support Bernie’s slogan! Slogans are progressive!

3/
Me: Bernie’s slogan isn’t a “progressive policy”. It’s one approach to achieving the actual progressive priority: universal healthcare.

4/
Me: Let’s see how much you understand the idea behind that slogan.

5/
Them: Here are an array of wrong answers I just assume are right because Bernie can do anything automagically if he’s president.

6/
Me: Those answers are wrong.

Bernie’s plan would take five years to implement *after passage*. That puts it in place in 2026 at the earliest. It would do zero for anyone during a 4-year term.

Them: *deletes*

7/
Them: *runs away*

8/
This is the arc every single time.

Someone from the Berniesphere comes blazing in fully convinced that I am Very Against Progress.

Then they make an ass of themselves trying to explain even the most basic elements of the slogans they think are magical.

Every. Single. Time.

Part of my disdain for Bernie and the Berniesphere comes from an infinite number of these interactions.

The level of arrogant soapboxing from people who have no fucking clue what they’re talking about is maddening.

No other candidate’s base is like that.

For the record, I favor the fastest route to universal healthcare that protects the 20 million currently uninsured Americans from financial ruin.

That’s *more progressive* than Bernie’s plan.

That doesn’t stop the knowledge-free trolls from insisting the opposite.
