I think the politics of impeachment likely benefit Trump, but that doesn't say much about whether it is right. That depends on the specific facts, which almost no one commenting actually has thus far.
If Democrats choose to move forward based on the info publicly available, they better hope the current media narrative is accurate and clear. If the facts come out more muddled and this starts to look like a partisan pretext for impeachment, they will be hurt by it.
Supporters could probably be more confident that Dems were being prudent in pursuing impeachment here if they hadn't also called for impeaching Kavanaugh last week based on a misleading story that fell apart within a day.
