This makes me so angry. Ivanka's little project pales in comparison to similar efforts by Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush and Michelle Obama...and they weren't even White House staffers. They created new programs. Fitting with the family biz, hers is a rebrand of existing efforts.
By sticking to only economic empowerment, she ignores violence faced by women, empowerment in family decisions and many other challenges. I'm glad she supports women, but the idea that she is some innovative diplomat is simply ridiculous.
If she really wanted to help, the list could include:
--ensuring foreign assistance stayed intact
--fighting for $ to implement the Women, Peace and Security strategy
--leading a process for 2020 and the anniversary of Beijing and UNSCR 1325
--reversing the Mexico City rule

She could tackle tough stuff like ISIS recruitment of women or the treatment of refugee women, FGM...the list goes on.
Without an eye on this, economic empowerment will continue to be a pipe dream for the majority of women and fun travel and photo ops for her.

Dedicating this much WH staff time to work that could be done by 2 people at State and AID is a waste of Executive level attention. We should expect much more from someone in that role, regardless of how they got the job.
PS: I don't care how she looks or what she wears. I care about how she spends her time and how it misrepresents challenges facing women and fails to advance US objectives. You should too.
