Want to see some photos of Hong Kong on a Sunday - it is quieter & rather a pleasant stroll.

I live in mid-levels so I descend down to what people call SoHo or South Hollywood Road - Old people sell goods they scavenge on this street 👇🏻
If u are unskilled & worked menial waves in Hong Kong during the manufacturing stage, retirement is hard here - social security is just ~1300 HKD or USD 200 so u do random gigs to get extra bucks. A huge social challenge in Asia - how to silver gracefully
This tea shop is one of my favs. The building is rather nice & I hope it doesn’t get demolished. I often stop by to get the bitter Chinese tea or the 5-flower sweet variety. They sell sugarcane juice there 👇🏻
Above is the longest escalator in the world & I take that everyday - basically my google map is just mid-levels IFC, ICC. Sad but true. The colonial building to the right is the old police headquarters renovated by the Hong Kong Football Club. A good addition to the hood.
Our wedding reception will be in this building & I see it everyday I walk to work. I love it. So nice. I especially love the juxtaposition of old & new HK w/ the high rises. Visit it if u come to HK. The plaza inside is pleasant & there is a nice tea shop 👇🏻
This street is basically what my friend who welcomed me 8 years ago in HK called “where u go to lose ur soul”. Basically a nightclub district. Usually full of “lounges” that are relaxing. The building to the right is just renovated. I like walking here on Sunday - a diff vibe.
U see art galleries like this. Hong Kong hosts Art Basel etc. Artists can’t really live here as it is expensive & not really supported by philanthropic orgs so art here is about trade & status. Not sure if I like this building but the portraits are cool, if not commercial.
As u walk around Wyndham (Hollywood turns into W) then u arrive at Lower Albert Road. Don’t know who Albert is but there are a few Albert Paths etc. I’m a member of the FCC but a rather passive one. Street cleaners are under appreciated. They tend to be elderly too. 🙇🏻‍♀️ Thank u!
This is in the middle of central on Lower Albert. I prefer this one vs the concrete jungle below. As u walk, u see greenery & then to the left is the Justice Department & if u enter u see this. I used to work at HSBC & so spent 12 hrs/day for 4 yrs there 👇🏻
If u walk down the steps u enter downtown HK - this is the old Justice building & the path to the left is Battery Path & to the right is St John’s Cathedral - we are getting married there. It is packed on Sunday esp w/ Filipinos - their only day off & tend to be Christian.
There is a Putonghua mass now. I’m sitting by the cafe which is a great cause that have young adults with mental disability to socialise them. Used to visit this shop when I worked here. I attended lunch concerts as I worked nearby. I come to the Nest now before Bbg interview.
Enjoy your Sunday! Go for a stroll! I now go read this book on India that has been screaming read me for ages. Btw, any recommendation?
*not relaxing 😬
For architecture enthusiasts, I love this fire station & the juxtaposition of the Lippo building. That tree is cool right? Kids love fire stations but I don’t see reasons why adults can’t. And urghh, air is gross today. My Dyson is working so hard at home.
Don’t forget to visit this super zen tea house right above Pacific Place & inside Hong Kong Park. It is next to a tea museum & great for tea enthusiasts (🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏻‍♀️) to buy pots & tea. Imma sip some jasmine now w/ some veggie siu mai 😋
