Some thoughts for the Canada Debates Commission based on tonight’s #ElectionDebate #elxn2019

1) Start the debate later: it’s a fairness issue for Western provinces, and it will also boost audience numbers.
2) Cut the microphones of repeat interruptors
3) Remove the smallest parties at a mid-way interval, or leave only the two biggest parties on-stage for a final duel
4) Host more debates, and dare the main parties to skip them
5) Ensure all moderators train more individually and as a team. A couple were great, but if you are going to use five they all need to be good both alone and as a relay.
(I’ve done it, it’s a hard job. You cannot wing it, especially if you aren’t a trained TV reporter/anchor)
