Snr leaders of @NigBarAssoc rigged the leadership elections in 2018. As a result, @officialEFCC launched an investigation in which staff of the Association were arrested. In 1 case a young mother of 2 was detained for over 2 weeks while the ppl who rigged the election walk free.

Unknown to the Bar, the ppl who masterminded the rigging of that @NigBarAssoc election in 2018 kept an ofc in Bolton White Hotel in Garki, Abuja, financed by the Association. A lot happened that was beyond the law & beyond reason - all in order to capture the Bar

Since last yr, @NigBarAssoc got @PwC to second a staff to the Association at a reported monthly pay of N1.8m. This staff seconded to the Association passed out from the NYSC scheme last Tuesday. Meanwhile the best paid staff of the Association is paid less than N300k.

Presently, @NigBarAssoc has over 50 staff. That is more than the number you need to have for mandatory health insurance. Yet, for more than 1yr, staff of the Association have bn without health insurance. They have also been denied contracted housing provision

Meanwhile, the same @NigBarAssoc leadership that is unwilling to grow its staff has decided to contract @PwC for abt N50m to do recruitment for it. Yes, N50m. Meanwhile the same ppl are unwilling to spend a dime on staff & secretariat development.

On the back of all this, campaigns have begun for next cycle of @NigBarAssoc elections in 2020. Presidency is zoned to South-West #Nigeria. Ambitions are being burnished. Litigation over the rigging of the last is still in court. Each aspirant hopes to benefit from the rigging!

Anyway, the no of known aspirants presently running to lead @NigBarAssoc in 2020 is at least 4 & cld be as high as 6. Problem is the contest wears the look of being pre-determined. The new BoT led by @oagbakoba cld well be a blue-ribbon window-dressing.
