Perry won't support Lithuania, our treaty ally, in their legitimate security/hybrid threat concerns re new nuclear power plant in Belarus, but says the US might sell the new plant nuclear fuel

It does not get more pathetic than this, folks. This is the simplest statement on US and NATO security concerns there is-- and Perry can't do it. The profiteering clowns can't get it right.

Keep hearing phrase "let's remember that Gowdy is a skilled litigator."

In fact, Gowdy hopelessly bungled a sure victory against the Obama administration in the Benghazi hearings.

The Benghazi hearings were ridiculous farce because they focused on a tactical political objective (maligning a longtime opponent/bogeyman) instead of evaluating the real failures in Benghazi.

The Rs totally fell down on this.

What do I mean? /2
There was one real issue we needed to publicly address on Benghazi.

We have a deal with our guys -- with every man and woman who puts on a US uniform or volunteers for service in defense of American interests abroad in civilian or other capacity. /3

There was a moment this wknd when POTUS's wordwizards thought they contained some damage by giving base this narrative: "the CIA changed the rules otherwise the whistleblower couldn't have reported so clearly Dems are over their skis, Biden is dead, POTUS will be re-elected".../1
... And that might have rippled outward, because House Rs were latching on.

But now POTUS is "helping" with his Twitter.

Eagerly await to see which handpuppet will use the "right to meet his accuser" line first.

A 27 year old doctoral candidate from Northwestern University - scientists at Exxon knew 40 years ago fossil fuels would destabilize the planet. Their trade/industry orgs have waged a decades long campaign of lying to public about the science and now it threatens the human race.
Biden signed no fossil fuel money pledge,but "how can Biden be trusted to hold them accountable for crimes against humanity when tomorrow you are holding a high dollar fundraiser hosted by Andrew Goldman a fossil fuel executive"
Biden immediately says he is not. Andrew Goldman provides Canadian gas to parts of Asia as head of Western LNG.

In the Paris Agreement at the end of 2015, 195 countries agreed to hold the average temperature increase below 2°C and to make efforts to limit it to 1.5°C. It was a major diplomatic and environmental achievement. 🎆👏🏽
The IPCC was asked for a report on the effects of global warming of 1.5°C and the possible pathways that would avoid exceeding this threshold. The effort was huge: 224 authors reviewed more than 6,000 scientific articles and more than 42,000 comments from expert reviewers.

I was about to head offline for 2 weeks, but I need to respond to this new paper from @ppchef before I go on whether #nuclear can operate flexibly. By coincidence, I just had a peer-reviewed article on this very subject accepted by Applied Energy by today! So here's a thread...
In this new "discussion paper," energy journalist @PPchef takes great pains to demonstrate that nuclear power is too inflexible to pair well with wind & solar in a "decarbonized energy system" & thus must be discarded "to make room" for more #wind & #solar publications.iass-potsdam.de/pubman/item/es…
I'm going to defer technical discussion of whether nuclear plants (old and new) can ramp or change output to match fluctuations in net demand and contribute to system reliability/flexibility until my paper is released (short answer: they certainly can if doing so is valuable)...

Six #nuclear reactors closed since 2013. By my count, up to 23 more reactors may retire w/o policy or market conditions improving: 21.6 GW = ~1/5th of US fleet, 4% of US #electricity--and crucially, 12% of emissions-free generation.
