Sometimes I wonder where we’d be right now if Trump’s overt cooperation with Russia hadn’t been treated like a wild-eyed conspiracy theory and if the media wouldn’t have given a career criminal the benefit of the doubt.
That hesitance to recognize what was happening in the public eye assisted in the crafting of the deep state coup narrative and all but destroyed any chance for the Mueller Report to make a difference.
This Ukraine thing is an obvious crime, but it was accepted and treated as serious from the start, giving it validity and teeth. If media members would’ve scoffed it very well could have gone away in a hurry.
The Trump/Russia story was undercut from the start by political mainstays who couldn’t imagine a presidential candidate being that unethical and that blatant. They wanted to believe in the strength of the system and missed a giant, giant story.
