Remembering the Ramallah Lynching, 19 Years Later (THREAD)

On a quiet morning in October 2000, two IDF reserve soldiers, Vadim Nurzhitz and Yossi Avrahami, were driving to their IDF base when then mistakenly turned into the Arab city of Ramallah.
The 2 were arrested by Palestinian Authority policemen & detained in the local police station. Word quickly spread that 2 IDF soldiers were being held, and within minutes a mob of bloodthirsty Palestinian Arabs stormed the police station and dragged out Vadim & Yossi.
The mob of hundreds savagely murdered Vadim and Yossi and dragged their mutilated bodies into the public square to cheers of the crowd. (Out of respect for Vadim z'l and Yossi z'l we are omitting the specific details of the lynching.)
At 11:00, Yossi’s wife Chani called his cell phone to ask him if he arrived safely to his base. One of the murderers picked up the phone and laughingly told her, “I slaughtered your husband a few minutes ago.” That was how Chani found out her husband was murdered.
The sickening images and footage from the lynching are forever etched into Israeli consciousness.

May the memories of Vadim and Yossi be a blessing.
