Two US officials with knowledge of the incident confirm to me that the Turkish attack on American forces near Kobani was not a mistake - they knew US troops were there.

“They are trying to push us out,” said one US official. We have now re-occupied the position.

@ForeignPolicy "Space Command" is a unified component command that will coordinate the space operations of the different military services. "Space Force" is the service branch responsible for organizing, training and equipping a corps of personnel to perform those operations.

In his first comments to the press as SecDef, @EsperDoD says he will send out updated guidance on engaging the press, stressing "the very important role of the media, the press in our society in terms of communicating what we are doing and then answering your questions."
Another priority: 14 of 59 Senate-confirmed DOD positions are unfilled or filled by actings - he wants to get these filled ASAP

"We've got to get stable leadership in to make sure you've got civilian control of the military, the right people in place leading this organization."
On Iran, Esper says the European maritime mission proposed by the UK will be "complementary" to Operation Sentinel, the parallel US effort to protect commercial vessels in the Gulf.

Remember, UK said clearly that the mission would not be part of Trump's max pressure campaign.

Iran announced today that it has breached the 300-kg limit on its stockpile of uranium enriched to 3.67%. But how much closer does that make Tehran to obtaining a nuclear weapon? Not much, experts say.
Tehran would need 1,050 kg of low-enriched uranium to make the core of one bomb. Then, Iran would have to further enrich it, to 90 percent purity, using centrifuges until it had about 25 kg of what is called highly enriched uranium. Experts estimate this would take about a year.

Two of the strangest things just happened to me & I absolutely need to go back to the house where it’s safe 😂
I was trying to make a Costco run & thought they opened at 9a. Arrived and discovered that they open @ 10a so I killed a little time and came back shortly after they opened. THEY WERE ALREADY PACKED. 😰
People were lined up to get in before they opened. It’s that serious.

So I run in and grab my 2 items. One is near the front. The other is in the back of the store. I weave thru the maze of Nike sweatshirts & Kirkland jeans in the middle (carts can’t fit.)

On Sept. 11, 2001, everyone watched in horror as our country was attacked. Here is a story about a friend who died on 9/11 as an #American hero. I first met John years ago, we had both trained and worked in the business of corporate finance out of #NYC. John was a good man.
After working his way through the difficult first years many new executives face as they battle to make a career for themselves on Wall Street, John had worked at several firms with positions of increasing responsibility. It was difficult for him, because John was a nice guy.
By 2000, John had won enough battles to earn respect on Wall Street. He had become Managing Director of boutique investment firm Sandler O'Neill, focused on mergers & acquisitions of regional banks. John worked from his office on the 104th floor of One World Trade Center in #NYC.
