See this explanatory thread from @GeorgePeretzQC on the steps MPs should take when the Gov asks them to approve a Johnson Agreement.

HOWEVER remember the Benn Act requires them to approve “a Concluded Agreement under A50(2)”
It’s very improbable that such a doc will be completed
My estimation is that it is impossible for such a new WA is completed by 19th given the processes that have to be undertaken by the EU (inc translations into 26 languages).

Unless he reintroduces May’s WA in full

Happy for @GeorgePeretzQC @JolyonMaugham et al to correct me
3/. A reminder within @GeorgePeretzQC thread of the importance of also seeing the accompanying legislation necessary for ratification and implementation. This has, thus far, been kept hidden even for consultation.

I think that is abusive & grossly negligent
4/. MPs must not fall into the trap of allowing themselves to be bamboozled because they are suffering from Brexit fatigue OR if their constituents are.

These are issues of the gravest constitutional and financial consequences.

Don’t BE an MP if you can’t handle it.
5/. Finally MPs need to be prepared to amend any motion submitted by the Gov to include a confirmatory referendum or a requirement to revoke A50 to prevent a crash out, in the event an extension is NOT approved.

They have to face this.
6/. @JolyonMaugham explains more fully the legislative mantrap being laid by a Gov seeking approval of any WA without ALSO approving the accompanying supportive legislation mentioned above.

They could use it to crash out without a deal.
That’s their aim

7/. I think they are going through the negotiating motions specifically TO put MPs under pressure to make a rushed decision out of confusion & exhaustion.

This is abusive.

They should be penalised for that conduct.

They are not to be trusted as their repeat conduct has proved

I see Dr Brigid Fowler from the Hansard Society makes the same point re the need for a concluded agreement to have been laid before Parliament by 19/10 (let alone the other requirements (see tweet 2) that Parl has to undertake in order to prevent the Benn letter being sent
