Perspective: you're probably an asshole if you don't leave 20% tip, but you're probably an asshole if you think you're entitled to a 20% tip
fear of karma demands I always tip 20%, but I am sorely tested every time I buy something from a one-guy food truck and he flips over that iPad with suggested tip options
I have a shitload of karma to correct, and not a lot of time to do it
where's the most ridiculous place you've ever seen a tip jar? GO
*I mean, other than my Patreon, obviously
One circumstance where I never skimp on a tip is a good live band at a free show, if I know they're probably being paid a nominal fee. Amount of tip is how much of a cover charge I would've been willing to pay
The flipside of ridiculous tip jars are situations where people seldom tip but really should. The most obvious example is hotel housekeepers. I try to remember to tip at least $5 per day
