Ask not what your candidate will do for your country.
Ask how s/he will "pay for" it.

If you really want to test a candidate's resolve, ask whether they would commit to funding part(s) of their agenda *without* so-called "pay-fors."
For example, could they say *something* like this?

If it can be shown that the economy has the fiscal space to *safely* absorb--i.e. respond to higher demand without accelerating inflation--additional spending, would they be willing to add to the deficit to do X, Y, or Z?
If the response is that X/Y/Z are off the table *unless and until* we can pretend to have "found" sufficient revenue to "pay for it," then you know you're dealing with a candidate that is not serious about passing his/her agenda.
If you're at all worried about the climate crisis, this should raise all kinds of 🚩🚩🚩🚩

I've been getting calls from a lot of Congressional candidates who are looking for effective ways to respond to the "pay-for" question. They know that opponents of Medicare-for-All have two basic talking points.
First, M4A will raise your taxes. You will pay more.
Second, M4A will take away your private health insurance. You will lose something.
I think @ewarren does an extremely good job keeping the focus on total costs. When I'm asked how we can afford M4A, I sort of laugh at the question. We already pay MORE than anyone in the world, and we pay MORE than we will end up paying (collectively) under M4A.

2/n The more winners we can display up front the less losers become apparent at the back. Charlie Munger has said “I like people admitting they were complete horses’ asses. I know I’ll perform better if I rub my nose in my mistakes. This is a wonderful trick to learn.”

Becoming rich or wealthy is a "long thing" with its own set of rules that many people are not ready to play by.

This is about how to stop struggling financially.
If you struggle financially, it is because of any of the reasons below:

(1) You make a lot of money but you figure out a way to spend it all.

(2) You don't make any money at all

(3) You don't make enough money.
If reason No.1 is you, your problem is obvious. You simply need to learn how to keep more of what you are making and invest it to get the money to make you more.

I can't teach you that. People like @tosinolaseinde will help you out in that area.
