The reason it blows my mind he’s still on this is that it implies he’s both obsessed with it and hasn’t, at any time in the past 3 years, just asked someone at FBI to brief him.
It’s not just that it’s a wacky conspiracy theory: It’s a wacky conspiracy theory that is trivially easy to debunk, which any expert at FBI could do in 2 minutes. It doesn’t just show he’s gullible & erratic, but that the critical information flow from the IC is utterly broken.
Maybe they’ve tried to explain it and he zoned out or disregarded it, but that’s equally bad, if not worse. If he’s unable to internalize a very simple set of facts on a topic he’s clearly obsessed with, is sound intelligence informing ANY of his decisions?
I focus on this also because it’s not in the category of complex intelligence assessments about which some measure of skepticism might be reasonable or desirable. It’s a “computers 101” thing any minimally technical person understands; no Double Secret IC knowledge needed.
