Getting ready for a microgravity drop test, firing a jet of gas onto regolith to simulate operating a spacecraft at an asteroid. The gas causes a soil eruption. This is @wachambers’ planetary science PhD research. @ucf @CLASS_UCF
2/ Isabel is helping operate the drop experiment. (She is here doing her own set of microgravity planetary science experiments on a different topic.) @UCF @CLASS_UCF
3/ And here is the drop! The lighting and camera and everything fall together with the experiment. The thruster firing happens automatically while it is in freefall.
4/ Wesley now analyzes the video to measure regolith eruption as a function of test parameters. @CLASS_UCF @UCF
