I have two days to read Catch and Kill to prep for an event with @RonanFarrow via @sf_curran, and the problem is this isn’t a book you can skim.
And listen whatever you’ve read and heard, this is so much more a damning indictment of network news especially morning shows than is really captuerable by any one interview

She says letting herself off the hook a bit
Had forgotten how Rudy Giuliani was so tied up in Harvey Weinstein’s defense/smear machine
Page 65 re (now fiancé) @jonlovett: “In the years we’d been together, he’d drifted, creating a short-lived sitcom and tweeting a lot.”
“Occasionally he’d try to pause me, forgetting I wasn’t a podcast.”
Has this book been optione yet? Because it’s not like it needs a huge lift to be a screenplay and anyway surely @RonanFarrow could do that while getting his second PhD and learning to be a sushi chef

so far the NY politicians doing Harvey’s dirty work include Giuliani and Pataki. Can’t wait for the Cy Vance deets.
This made me rewatch The Insider, which I still believe to be a deeply flawed/annoying journo movie. Or maybe Michael Mann is the wrong director for this kind of story.
⚰️⚰️⚰️⚰️
It was clearly bullshit when @NBCNews said it spoke Farrow’s story because “he didn’t have it” at the time but my god the timeline and other evidence laid out in here about how they covered for Harvey is just so damming.
No way @NBCNews can be taken seriously as a “news org” so long as Oppenheim and Lack are still in charge. They are dragging down the reputation of everyone else there.
And listen, this wasn’t a small enterprise fearful that a lawsuit —even one in which they would prevail—could put them out of business. The news division has the clout, lawyers, and pocketbooks of
@NBCUniversal and @comcast behind it.
.@AnnCurry would have won
What are the women at NBC—@maddow @KatyTurNBC @meredithvieira
etc—going to do to protect their less powerful colleagues from this culture of abuse and coverup that seems to have in no way changed?
Honestly nothing will change at @NBCNews until those who have powers and a public podium band together and demand changes to the masthead and an independent investigation—as other networks and institutions have done.
Summing up how it feels to have finished this book. (Painting’s title is “Truth Coming Out Of Her Well To Shame Mankind)
Now composing my questions for @RonanFarrow. If you've read the book/his work and you have suggestions... @rachelsklar @lizzieohreally
