Say you have a drug, and you want to know how "good" it is...
Good can be roughly defined as (1) how much does it improve your life and (2) how much longer are you going to live.

In health economics we call this a QALY (quality adjusted life year).
QALYs are the best (so far) we have, but they aren't perfect. #SMDM19
For example,
They discriminate against geriatrics. Drugs for old people don't prolong life by as much as drugs for youngins.

The @UW_Pharmacy CHOICE institute looked at viable alternatives to the QALY.
They identified 5.
