I asked people what they thought was at risk from Brexit, after the "big stuff" of freedom of movement, Single Market, Customs Union and frictionless trade. Here's what they came up with...

- UK no longer feels like home

- Clean beaches
- VAT reverse charge mechanism
- Easy online ordering of UK products for EU delivery and EU products for UK delivery
- Habitats and environmental impact assessment regulations
- Easy immigration controls
- Use of EU lane at ports & airports
- EU-funded courses for the unemployed
- Having a voice in the world
- Investment in poorer communities e.g. the Welsh valleys
- No access to pan-European crime databases
- Barriers to business travel
- No guarantee UK pension will continue to be uprated for UK pensioners abroad
- Tax directives
- Free data roaming

"Tories deny plan to compromise workers' rights after Brexit" Kwasi Kwarteng says there's no truth to it. So that's all right then. Because everyone knows that Kwasi Kwarteng's word is stronger than any international treaty. We can all stop worrying. theguardian.com/politics/2019/…
Of course, if you're a rare reprobate who prefers to trust in treaties, what you need to know is the Tories have moved a commitment to maintain EU standards out of the legally binding Withdrawal Agreement and into the non-binding Political Declaration, giving it zero weight.
On top of that, Brexiters are on record on numerous occasions as lauding the potential to liberalise UK rules after Brexit (ie make them worse, because we can already improve on EU rules as a member). But Kwasi Kwarteng's assurance trumps everything else of course.

Oh, look. It's the Operation Brock traffic jam kicking in already. The roads have only been closed a few hours, and already the queue is building.

And if your first thought is "why are they stopping traffic 6 days before Brexit?" the answer's dead simple: propaganda.

Jacob Rees-Mogg (12 July 2016): "Many people wanted to leave the EU because they feel disconnected from the politicians who are supposed to represent them. To this extent it was an anti-establishment movement similar to those on the Continent and in the United States." Hmm.
So according to him, some Leave voters voted Leave as a protest vote. At least that's what he claimed immediately after the referendum. But now his tune has changed. Perhaps that's why the article has vanished from his website?

On today’s Juncker-Johnson meeting, important to remember European Commission negotiates on behalf of EU leaders. Juncker does not have legal powers to change #Brexit deal BUT /1
Juncker is v much in favour of finding a deal a) for good of EU and importantly b) as part of his own legacy. His last day in office as Commission President coincides with date by which the PM wants UK out of EU .. 31st Oct BUT /2
PM’s current negotiation offer doesnt fly with EU. Perceived to be: “We, UK will compromise and allow Northern Ireland to follow EU regulatory rules on food safety, you EU meet us “half way” and compromise on single market. We’ll work out the border issue with technology ..” /3

I think prospects for #Brexit talks are looking very grim indeed
Best May can hope for - if Chequers agrees it - is that EU does not kill off the cherry picked single market/customs union straightaway
EU/Barniers pushing for either:
Full EEA plus customs union (although non-existent model that no one here thinks is tolerable)
Or an FTA and the Northern Ireland backstop

52/48% - a mandate to pursue leaving. That means investigating & analysing consequences of different scenarios, but not the pursuit of any one of them. 1/
But a narrow mandate - no super majority. This requirement was discussed in Parliament pre Ref. and rejected bcs Ref was only ADVISORY. 2/
