Social conservatives are systematically stacking local nominations, leadership races, internal party votes, etc. with the goal of taking over mainstream conservative parties from within.

They say they’re laying the groundwork for a “pro-life majority” within 2-3 election cycles.
But don’t take *my* word for it.

These anti-abortion groups are pretty explicit about what they’re trying to do.

A lot of media coverage re: the Conservative Party and anti-abortion groups fails to note the influence these groups have at the riding level / inside the party.
Doug Ford could not have won the Ontario PC leadership without the support of anti-abortion groups.

The anti-abortion groups took credit for his victory and, truth be told, the math backs their story up:

Anti-abortion groups stacked 52 UCP nominations in Alberta to install “pro-life” candidates, many of whom were already Jason Kenney loyalists.

Anti-abortion groups also stacked a nomination meeting to help nominate Stephanie Kusie as the CPC candidate for the Calgary-Midnapore by-election.

That riding was left vacant when Jason Kenney decided to head to provincial politics.

Anti-abortion groups also helped Scott Moe win the leadership of the Saskatchewan Party (He was RightNow’s #2 choice).

Moe had promised to give parents veto power over their teen daughter’s abortions.

These anti-abortion groups openly brag about how they “worked behind the scenes very strategically, very quietly” to nominate so-con teen Sam Oosterhoff in a surprise win over the president of the Ontario PCs.

Oosterhoff wants to make abortion “unthinkable in our lifetime.”
Local nominations are often decided by a few hundred people in ridings of 100,000+ people.

So-con groups just bus in activists and stack the vote.

If you want to understand where all the crazy comes from in conservative politics, this explains a lot:
